How long is a full day?

A full day is 10 hours including a 45-minute lunch break. The day starts at call time on location for local shoots or departure time from Rocket base on shoots requiring a drive further than 20 kms out of town. If the shoot requires the crew to fly to location the day starts at check-in at the airport

A half-day is 5 hours and is ideally scheduled to fit in to the morning or afternoon on any one day. A half-day is charged at 60% of the full day rate.

Are there any charges for overtime?

Overtime rates are calculated as follows (the rates covers BOTH crew members):

T1.5 ($165.00) per hour for each hour over 10 (i.e. 11th and 12th hours)
T2 ($220.00) per hour for each hour over 12 (i.e. 13th and subsequent

Does Rocket Crew operate a pencil-booking system?
Yes, you can pencil book equipment for dates that are yet to be confirmed. If we get conflicting bookings, you may be asked to confirm or release your booking within a 48hr time period. If you make a pencil booking and for whatever reason you no longer require the equipment, please call to release the pencil booking

Do I need to book the camera separately from the crew?
No this is not necessary for our standard recording formats.

Can I hire the crews by the hour?
As is the screen industry standard, the minimum hire period is a half-day. A half-day is 5 hours and is ideally scheduled to fit in to the morning or afternoon on any one day. A half-day is charged at 60% of the full day rate.

Does Rocket supply Camera Crew and Sound Recordists on a labour-only basis?
Rocket Crew only shoot on our camera and sound equipment. Rocket regularly services and maintains all the crew gear and can usually provide back-up gear in the event of a breakdown.

Crew travel time – is this charged for?
Yes Crew travel time will sometimes need to be charged for. This is relative to the distance the crew are required to travel and will be discussed in full at the time of the booking.

What about crew cancellation fees?
Cancellation fees are avoided where ever possible – usually only charged if the shoot is cancelled at short notice and other work has been turned away. Cancellation fees vary, and will be discussed in full at the time of booking.
